All ChocoSol products are made from whole foods in Toronto, sourcing ingredients directly with farmers in Southern Mexico or Southern Ontario. All Mexican ingredients from various ChocoSol products (i.e. cacao, vanilla, sweeteners, amaranth) come from Indigenous communities in Chiapas.

ChocoSol is a pedal powered social enterprise. This includes pedal powered cacao grinding and blending technologies, as well as all transportation to Grassroots (accomplished by bicycle cargo bikes).

Organic: Produced in whole or in part with third-party certified organic ingredients. All sweeteners in ChocoSol products are certified organic, and the cacaeo beans are in Certified Organic transition.

Ethically Made: Adheres to one or more commonly held fair trade principles (though not certified): fair wages, safe and healthy conditions, equal employment opportunities and financial and technical assistance to producers.

ChocoSol trading principles can be described as Horizontal Trade.

ChocoSol works from whole ingredients, which often requires to hand grinding, peeling, snipping and sorting of ingredients.

They promote simple chocolate making techniques and technologies capable of being shared with other producer communities full of enthusiasm, but low on captial. With only a hand grinder, they have shown people how to make chocolate and to concoct recipes from locally available ingredients.

Biodegradable:The packaging for the bonus cacao pieces is made from corn-based PLA, a biodegradable plastic.

A stone ground, 75% dark chocolate, Darkness is made with three varieties of mayan cacao from Indigenous communities in southern Mexico.

A very earthy, deep texture and flavour.
