Corn mugs are created this way: Corn kernels are removed from the cob soaked in a combination of sulfur dioxide and water. The corn swells and softens with the mild acidity loosening the gluten bonds of the corn to release the starch. The corn is ground and starch is separated and processed into sugar. This is fermented to create lactic acid into small pellets of PLA, the basic building block for plastic.

In order for this mug to fully biodegrade within 90 days, please ensure it's sent to a municipal composting facility. This will provide the optimal levels of pressure, moisture and heat for the mug to fully biodegrade in a short span of time.
